- 2006 PROJECT CENSORED AWARD WINNER
Taylor-Report: Genocide In Rwanda and Congo : March 28th, 2005: Phil talks to guests Keith Harmon Snow and Robin Philpot live.
Ranked by Project Censored as the Fifth Most Important Story Censored in 2005, this radio broadcast with Phil Taylor led to keith's fourth Project Censored award. (A live radio interview at the Phil Taylor web site (url below), independent journalist Keith Harmon Snow talks to Phil about "the world's most neglected emergency" -- the ongoing tragedy of the Congo where perhaps six million have died since 1996. Most of the victims have been noncombatants who have died from hunger or disease as a consequence of the invasions and wars sponsored by western powers trying to gain control of the region's mineral wealth. Keith Harmon Snow also talks about the movie Hotel Rwanda ("propaganda; malicious, destructive, violent disinformation") and the situation in Sudan ("Darfur is all about oil"). - see also: http://www.taylor-report.com/audio/index.php?month=2005-03)
- taylor-Report: War in Congo
: Phil Taylor interviews keith harmon snow live
September 6th, 2004:
Featured Guest:
keith harmon snow (Live audio link). (Summary:
Phil talks to keith harmon snow, a researcher for Survivors' Rights International, about the situation in the Great Lakes region of Africa, particularly the Democratic Republic of Congo. Snow points out that five million people have been killed in the Congo in the last five or six years, but it's off the media's agenda. Powerful interests are pilfering the resources of the country, chiefly diamonds and coltan, and mercenaries and proxy armies are enforcing the theft. Snow pointed out that the US supported the invasion of the Congo in 1996, and Rwanda and Uganda supplied the two big proxy armies that acted on their behalf. Snow also talked about related issues of mercenaries linked to Heritage Oil and Gas and Margaret Thatcher's son, and events in Darfur. - see also: http://www.taylor-report.com/audio/index.php?month=2004-09)

Published August 9, 2007 by Toward Freedom. (the "four-day war" that rocked Kinshasa, the capital city of the Democratic Republic of Congo from March 22-26, 2007 was called a "cleaning" by insiders. Everyone knew it was going to happen, the United Nations Observers Mission in Congo (MONUC) did nothing to stop it and the death count was significantly under-reported. The realities behind the scenes remain cloaked by the international media and world institutions, and the big losers, yet again, are the Congolese people - see also: http://towardfreedom.com/home/content/view/1096/1/)

- CONGO's JEAN-PIERRE BEMBA
: A People's History of a Brat With a Rebel Army
Published September 18, 2007, by Toward Freedom. Unedited version published here. (Who is Jean-Pierre Bemba and how did he rise to power in the heart of darkness? Did Bemba order his rebel soldiers to cannibalize pygmies? Or is that another Western myth manufactured to malign an African leader and feed stereotypes of tribal savagery? What is Bemba's relationship to the competitors of George Walker Bush and the friends of William Jefferson Clinton? How is Bemba linked to blood diamonds in Africa and mercenary armies in Iraq? Why have troops from Uganda recently re-invaded Congo and why have the United Nations and international press been silent about it?
After a decade of war and millions of lost lives in Congo the most basic truths remain hidden. - see also: http://towardfreedom.com/home/content/view/1123/1/)

- ARE USAID FUNDS BEING USED FOR COVERT OPERATIONS IN AFRICA?
: Gorilla Conservation and Guerilla Warfare
Published September 19, 2007, by OPED News. By Georgiane Nienaber and keith harmon snow. (On Wednesday September 19, 2007 the U.S. State Department and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announced the provision of $496,000 of new funds for wildlife conservation in the Virunga National Park in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. According to a State Department press release, poaching, armed conflict and "demographic pressures" are justification for the grant.
But investigations in Eastern Congo reported by these authors over the past six months indicate that USAID "conservation" funds - millions of taxpayer's dollars - have been misappropriated, misdirected, and have disappeared. Evidence suggests that ongoing guerrilla warfare in Central Africa has and is continuing to receive clandestine financial support in AID-for-ARMS type financial transfers. - see also: http://www.opednews.com/articles/genera_georgian_070920_are_usaid_funds_bein.htm)

- THREE CHEERS FOR EVE ENSLER?
: Propaganda, White Collar Crime and Sexual Atrocities in Eastern Congo
Published October 24, 2007 by Z Magazine Online (ZNET), writen by keith harmon snow. (Eve Ensler, Glamour Magazine, Democracy Now, the New York Times--depopulation and genocide have again escalated in Central Africa. The Western media propaganda campaign for "an end to sexual violence in Congo" must be placed in its proper context: white supremacy and the shock doctrine of global corporate plunder. In this context rape and depopulation are permanent conditions, the real killers get away with murder, and there is endless, brutal revenge by the victors. The victims get all the blame, and their suffering never ends. - see also: http://www.zmag.org/content/showarticle.cfm?SectionID=2&ItemID=14128)
